Komorebi Ceramics
Welcome to Komorebi Ceramics! The name "Komorebi" is a Japanese term that describes the sunlight filtering through the leaves of trees. This enchanting imagery evokes a dance of light and shadow, creating a peaceful atmosphere that invites feelings of wonder and appreciation for the everyday beauty around us.
The studio
Nestled in the back garden of my home in North Amstelveen, our cozy ceramic studio offers the perfect setting to find inspiration, explore your creativity, and craft unique pieces that bring joy to your everyday moments.
Here, you can escape the hustle and bustle of daily life and immerse yourself in the art of ceramics. You’ll enjoy a welcoming atmosphere, surrounded by the tools and materials to bring your ideas to life.

Keiko Oyamatsu
Ceramist/ Instructor
After graduating from the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Fine Art, I trained over a decade as a ceramist in both Japan and the Netherlands. My work is inspired by a lifelong fascination with nature—its beauty, complexity, and interconnectedness.
For me, working with clay is profoundly meaningful, as it serves as a tangible reminder of our bond with the earth.
The rich ceramic heritage of my home country Japan has greatly influenced my practice. In Japanese tradition, ceramics transcend mere functionality, embodying a philosophy of imperfection, simplicity, and a harmonious relationship with nature. This philosophy lies at the heart of my creative approach.
In my courses, I encourage participants to engage with clay thoughtfully and intuitively, fostering a deeper connection with the material. I emphasize the importance of trusting the process—embracing clay’s organic spontaneity and discovering beauty in its unpredictability.
Together, we explore not just the technical aspects of ceramic making, but also the mindful experience it offers.
